Voxlib: Using Skype without Skype
A little while back I wrote about a service called iSkoot that’ll let you use Skype on basically any phone, well today I’m telling you about Voxlib. Voxlib is similar to iSkoot but it has a couple of more features: SMS Online Activity, and full Skype functionality.
Just to jog your memory let me remind you what iSkoot does, basically you login to this java application dial a number and then it dials another number and routes your call to whatever number you initially dialed. (think calling card assisted call)
What Voxlib does instead is it allows you to call your SkypeIn number and access your online users, voice mail, and SkypeOut calls. In addition if you were sitting in some boring lounge waiting you can send Voxlib’s SMS gateways an SMS and it will return with users that are on your Skype list who are currently online.
For a more graphical representation check-out Voxlib’s “How it works” page.
If you feel like you just want to jump in then all you need is a Skype account, a PC (sorry mac users), and Vox’s software.
