T-Mobile MDA 2.26 Beta Official ROM leak
Thanks to chesney09 on HoFo we now have the T-Mobile 2.26 official ROM. Now while I was downloading this I was thinking of building a custom ROM (aka cooked ROM) from this; however, after using it for the past couple of hours I don’t think I will build one for awhile.
In all honesty, I really enjoy this ROM right now…maybe it’s because of the new comm manager, or because of the T-Zones link on the today screen, I don’t know but right now I’m enjoying it very much. Only draw back is that there’s no Java/Midlet Manager in the ROM like the original ship ROM…so that’s kind disappointing, but other than that it’s pretty good. And just FYI, I’m running it with the T-Mobile customizations…that’s right..I did NOT cancel the “customizations” install, I let it go through all the way.
Some registry edits you might want to do are in this file:

Overall I’m happy with this ROM, and because of the distractions that I’ve had since starting this post ~ 9pm and ending it 2:30am I can say for the last 5.5 hours it’s been working out pretty well.
Oh did I mention that those e-mail sound notifications that people were complaining about with the earlier ROMs…well you’ll be happy to know that the notification sound comes through loud and clear!
You can download the ROM from the link above or from here
Midlet Manager now available here

Thank you
Can you post what the registry edits are within the CAB File? It is always comforting to know what is being edited before applying the edits….
Thanks.

Rick,
The registry edits are as follows:
1. Enable Indicator
2. Store IE Cache on SD card
3. Enable 802.11G mode
4. Enable Edge icon when available
5. Disable SMS Sent Notification
6. Enable 4 way Nav in IE
7. Enable obex transfer
8. Show the time zones page
9. Enable clear type both ways
I think that’s it off the top of my head, if I remember more I’ll post again.

Hi,
I installed this, but can’t get the Blackberry Connect program to start? Any ideas on how to do this?
Cheers,

Hope this works out for you.
Thank you very much lvlolvlo – just what I was looking for.
A million thanks!

Thanks lvlolvlo
but i have a question, when i go to the T-Mobile website, im downloading a version that is 2.6, and i noticed that it says the Edge icon is enabled in this version, so I am wondering if they made the fixes you listed above? especially the enabling of
802.11g please let me know
Nathan
Well I know for sure that while they, T-Mobile, might have done the Enable Different GPRS/EDGE Icon they have not done the storage card, 4 way nav, sms sent, etc..
can you tell me how to manually do these things?
There are a couple of things that I don’t want that you have in there.
I have read the xml file and can find 8 of the 9 listed, but the one I really want is to enable wireless G and that would be the 9th thing I can’t find.
thanks
Navigate to:
HKLM/Comm/TNETWLN1/Parms/
And make the appropriate changes:
dot11SupportedRateMask=1
dot11SupportedRateMaskG=8
For Cingular users and savy T-Mobile users check this updated thread for info on how to get BBConnect to work on your Wizard:
